Germany's greenest skate park opened its doors at the beginning of August 2018 - built with cement and concrete from Dyckerhoff.

On the 4,500 sqm ground of the former youth traffic school in the Beueler Rheinaue, a generous domicile for their hobby is now available to enthusiastic skaters after only six months of construction time.

The owner and operator of the park is the Bonn-based association SuBCulture, founded in 1987 to promote youth and subculture in the Bonn region. All those responsible for the association were and are very committed to the new skate park, which will be built in three stages. The search for a suitable location had been going on for many years. Meanwhile the first section "Street", a course with steps, railings and hurdles on an area of 900 sqm, is in operation. A large car park, a fast highway connection as well as a bus and tram stop in the immediate vicinity make the location attractive for visitors who do not live "around the corner".

But before the opening there was planning and construction: The Cologne planning office Landskate (LNDSKT), which specializes in sustainable skateparks, designed a state-of-the-art skatepark with 2,250 sqm of skate space embedded in a 1,600 sqm green area.

Specialists were also involved in the construction work. The Kiel-based company Anker Rampen produced all plant components by hand on site. The concrete had to be particularly fine and easy to process. Moreover, shotcrete was required for the construction of some plant elements. The Dyckerhoff concrete plants Hennef and Bornheim-Hersel of the Rhein-Ruhr branch delivered a total of approximately 120 cbm of this special mixture based on CEM III/A 42.5 N cement from the Dyckerhoff plant in Neuwied. The anthracite-colored elements made of ferro-concrete colored with Bayferrox 360 black pigments contribute to the dynamic and modern appearance. The additional 50 cbm required was supplied exclusively by the plant in Hennef.

The new skate park is designed to meet the needs of a wide range of user groups and performance levels. Therefore, two more facilities are planned: the "Bowl", a hemispherical floor recess of 650 sqm and the "Pumptrack", a 700 sqm hill course. According to the information provided by the operator, the entire project should be completed by 2020. Then other events such as contests or concerts will also take place on the site.
