Skate park to strengthen community in new neighborhood

An impressive concrete skate park with numerous ramps and obstacles for beginners and advanced skaters is currently being built on an area of 850 m² in Leinefelde-Worbis, Thuringia. It is being built as part of the Thuringian State Garden Show, which is going to be held in Leinefelde-Worbis in 2026. The facility will be barrier-free and will have seating and lighting. Skate parks are meeting places for young and old – either to skate and cycle or simply to spend time together. The local skater scene was also involved in the planning.

For this project, the Beuren plant of Dyckerhoff Transportbeton Thüringen, which is only a few kilometers away, supplied 155 m³ of colored concrete of strength class C35/45 with a maximum grain size of 8 mm in consistency class F2 as shotcrete between the end of June and the end of August. This was applied to the steel-reinforced ramps under high pressure by the company Holzwerk Oranienbaum from Kemberg and then smoothed by hand, making the surface particularly durable and even. A Portland limestone cement PKZ Dreifach N [CEMII/A-LL 52.5 N] was initially used to produce the concrete. Due to the temperatures and the time required for levelling, the recipe was then changed to a blast furnace cement HOZ Doppel LH (na) [CEM III/A 42.5 N-LH/NA]. Both cements were produced at the Thuringian cement plant in Deuna.

The main theme of the 2026 State Garden Show in Leinefelde-Worbis is ‘Reconciliation between city and landscape’. The focus of the campaign is the construction of the new ‘Garden City’ district, which is being built in the south of the town. Previously, hundreds of garages stood there, which have already been demolished. The new, sustainable neighborhood not only offers living space, but also leisure facilities such as the new skate park. In addition, renaturation and infrastructure projects are being planned with the aim of improving the water quality in the region and at the same time increasing accessibility and recreational opportunities for visitors.
